Walk along historic Unter den Linden as your guide traces Berlin’s rise from two small trading towns on the River Spree to the powerful capital of Prussia and the German Empire. Discover how the city flourished under Frederick the Great, endured occupation by Napoleon, and later became the political heart of a unified Germany under Bismarck.

This highly rated tour offers a clear and compelling overview of Berlin’s dramatic past, taking in iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Berlin Wall, and the site of Hitler’s bunker.

Stand on Bebelplatz, where Nazi book burnings in 1933 symbolised the destruction of free thought, and walk across the final battleground of WWII as your guide explains how the Reichstag fire helped the Nazis seize power.

At the site of Hitler’s bunker, hear the gripping story of the final days of the Third Reich, before continuing to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, where your guide will explore both its meaning and the debates surrounding it.

See preserved sections of the Berlin Wall and learn how it divided the city overnight, along with the powerful human stories of those who lived through it. Visit Checkpoint Charlie, where Cold War tensions played out between East and West, and hear tales of espionage, daring escapes, and political confrontation.

Follow in the footsteps of history at the locations of speeches by John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, and finish in Berlin’s modern government district, where the city’s past and future meet.

At the end of your tour, your guide will be happy to offer recommendations to help you make the most of your time in Berlin.

The best way to discover Berlin: Knowledgeable, friendly, and highly recommended!

We did the Private Explore Berlin tour with Celia and it was truly an outstanding experience. From the very beginning she made us feel completely comfortable, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Her knowledge of Berlin’s history, culture, and hidden details is simply unbeatable: every explanation was full of fascinating insights, perfectly structured, and shared in such an engaging way that we were hooked from start to finish. Thanks to her, we discovered corners and curiosities of the city that we would have never found on our own. We ended the tour feeling like we wanted to learn even more, which is the best sign of how great it was. Celia is an exceptional guide who turns the tour into an unforgettable experience — highly recommended! Maite G. Oct. '25

Private Solo 3 Hour Berlin Tour.

My guide Glen was amazing - knowledgeable, friendly and helpful (and he came from the same part of England as me!). Marcus my driver was also great fun and shared some of his family and childhood experiences which very much brought much of the fascinating history of Berlin to life. I had no difficulty with my booking at all. Julia T. June '25

Exceeded expectations.

Our guide gave a masterful account of the history, people, places and events surrounding the rise and fall of the Third Reich as we strolled throughout Berlin. The personal insights and style of our guide and the impressive details were greatly appreciated. Haulie T. May '25

Excellent again!

Great private tour by insider tour. I hesitate to write this review as so many have written reviews so what can i add? Well, this is the second time i have used the group in the last 4 years. Different tour leaders but both were excellent and that is the point of the review. It is clear that this organization is able to properly train their staff and provide excellent walking tours. We did a combination of WW2 /cold war sites. Highly recommend this group. Captain T. April '25

Great Tour - Highly Recommended.

This was a great tour and well worth both the time and cost. Joerg was on time, friendly and a great source of information. As a first day in Berlin it was a great way to understand Berlin (and its history) as well as see a large number of the 'main sites' and orientate ourselves for our priorities for the rest of our stay. Great experience for our family.

Maggie, our tour guide, was AMAZING! She was so knowledgeable and was able to keep our two, hard to please teenagers engaged. We loved our time with her and learned so much about Berlin! Daryl R. July '24

Best tour in Europe!

Nicholi was amazing - This was one of our best tours we experienced while travelling in Europe. Laurie E. July '24

We booked a 4 hour private tour...

We booked a 4 hour private tour of the sights in Berlin and we were lucky enough to have Sara as our guide. From the moment the tour started Sara was eager to share her knowledge and passion for the city. She was extremely professional and the guide she provided, including many facts we did not know ourselves, were passionately delivered from a person who clearly loves what she does. The 4 hours flew by and we saw every sight we hoped to because of our guide. Claire P. June '24

Brilliant!

With John on communication and the lovely Anika on tour - from start to finish, brilliant experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to book another tour when I next visit Berlin - I’ve got my eye on the street art one. Thank you so much! Deeps Apr. '23

Great tour guide of Berlin.

Paul was a great tour guide of Berlin! His knowledge of the history was wonderful and so interesting. He was very personable, kind, and modified the tour to meet our needs. We were in town running the Berlin Marathon and had to limit our walking. That morning he changed the plan so we were able to see the sights, learn the historical context and not tire our legs out. We enjoyed our day and would highly recommend Paul as your guide. Mona A. Feb. '23

Entrenched in history.

Georgia, our guide, was great. She provided many historical insights every step of the way that I felt like I was watching history before my eyes. Malathy Nov '23

Great way to get to know Berlin's fascinating and complex history and see beautiful architechture.

So glad we did this tour as soon as we arrived in Berlin for the first time with our family of 5 including 3 teenagers. Maria was knowledgeable and personable and knew her stuff. Highly recommend Maria and this tour. Very few tourists in Berlin right now so we had the main sites to ourselves. We loved Berlin. Maria met us at our hotel (Regent Hotel) so it was easy to walk to everything from there. Judy H Nov '23

Worth the price, great tour guide!

Worth every penny. Jan was our guide and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a great deal in 4 hours. Jan provided details we would not have gotten elsewhere. We are a family of 6 (two teenagers and 8,10 years old). Jan was great at making it interesting for everyone. I would highly recommend this tour operator and guide! Amy_P Sept. '23

Brilliant.

All of it ! Mike our guide was so knowledgeable and we walked a pace that was slow enough but quick enough to keep us both informed . He started by setting the scenario by use of old maps showing how the city had changed. Peter_l Sept. '23

We had a wonderful day.

We had a wonderful day with Maria - she was extremely knowledgeable, and our tour was really interesting and engaging. This was our second tour with Insider Tours and both were excellent. Dana M. July '23

It was excellent.

The smaller group helped my children get more out of the tour. It was absolutely worth the money and time and would highly recommend it for a family. Alison E. July '23
